With almost two decades of experience making the performing arts accessible and inclusive in any setting, Allisen Learnard believes in dance's creative power to heal, and intensely facilitate self-expression.
She studied dance early on at Munson Williams Proctor Institute, later earning a B.F.A in dance from Florida International University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She is now a certified yoga teacher, Wolftrap early childhood lead teaching artist and mentor, and Baby Arts Play facilitator.
Her knowledge of dance techniques is well-rounded, including ballet and modern, west African and Afro-diasporas, Middle Eastern folk and fusion, tap dance, and physical theater. She has performed for professional companies, such as Momentum Dance Company, Animate Objects Physical Theater, Pioneer Winter Collective, and Binti Drum and Dance Ensemble. She currently performs with Ajna Tribal (FCBD®️) and Laterna Dance Company. Allisen is also an accomplished tap dance soloist.
Throughout her career as a teacher and facilitator, Allisen has reached thousands of students of diverse social and economic backgrounds. She works closely with schools, community centers, parks, government facilities, nonprofit organizations, galleries, and museums to offer classes, performances, and personal development workshops. She was nominated for the RPAA Support Award and is listed on the VCA Teaching Artist roster.
